From proton tomography to the explosive astrophysical events to the creation of matter in the early universe, the core questions to understand are in nuclear physics. Large scale experimental facilities, such as the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC), radioactive ion beam experiments, and astrophysical observatories need support and guidance from physics theory to have their intended impact. With experimental milestones coming soon as well as the increasing global focus on multi-messenger astrophysics and the QCD phase diagram, 2026 represents a timely opportunity to consolidate regional theoretical expertise in nuclear physics. 

Given the call to action by the broad community, the nuclear physics theory communities in Taiwan and South Korea have gone ahead to spearhead cutting edge research:  The community in Taiwan is heavily invested in the key areas of the research of proton tomography through distribution functions at the parton level, the research of the heavy element production and nuclear equation of states, and the study of heavy-ion collisions through modeling and non-perturbative calculations to understand the creation of matter in extreme environments. With similar efforts undergoing in South Korea there is significant potential to exchange knowledge, open new dialogues, work together and showcase our respective expertise areas in two growing communities. The complementary strengths of Taiwan and South Korea, particularly in hadron structure, nuclear astrophysics, lattice QCD, and dense matter theory, provide a natural and strategically aligned foundation for sustained bilateral collaboration.  

In this three-day workshop we will have sessions for these three fields, i.e. hadron tomography, nuclear astrophysics, and heavy-ion collisions. Through dedicated interaction sessions we will facilitate and encourage discussions among all participants. Furthermore, we foresee keynote lectures aimed at high-level introductions by advanced researchers as well as invited lectures by promising young researchers. For invited and keynote lectures an emphasis will be put on experts from Taiwanese and South Korean affiliations to further underline the nature and goals of the workshop, with excellent international speakers adding to the mix by adding further, non-locally available, expertise. A focused size of approximately 40 participants ensures in-depth scientific interaction while maintaining a high-level, discussion-oriented format that maximizes meaningful exchange and collaboration.
