Gravitational Wave Open Data Workshop #7 (2024)
LIGO, Virgo, and KAGRA (LVK) have now completed three observing runs (O1, O2, and O3), with all observational quality strain data available to the public. These observations include over 90 detections of compact object mergers. Recently LVK have also completed the early operational run in the 4th observation (O4a) in January. In the following operation in O4, LVK are expected to reach the sensitivity of 190 Mpc, 115 Mpc and 10 Mpc in optimism. With the practical upgrades in detectors and the coming observational run to generate fruitful research results in the investigation of GW, it is an undoubtedly exact time to join us.
To encourage more participants to join the GW studies, LVK began to host the Open Data Workshop since 2018. Participants can receive a crash-course in gravitational-wave data analysis. The workshop includes several lectures given by the experts, hands on experience with software tutorials, and a data challenge designed to test your new skill in GW data analysis. In 2024, LVK decided to host the Open Data Workshop in national science Museum (https://www.nmns.edu.tw/en/) in Taiwan, directly following the 11th KAGRA International Workshop (KIW-11). We do not only provide the study hub for the participants to join the training lecture on-line, but also encourage the researchers to visit Taiwan to have the interaction with the top scholars around the world.
