There are four international airports in Taiwan:
- Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) near Taipei,
- Kaohsiung International Airport (KHH) in Kaohsiung,
- Taichung International Airport (TXG) in Taichung, and
- Taipei Songshan Airport (TSA) in Taipei.
Tainan is 305 kms or 189 miles south of Taipei, 49 kms or 30 miles north of Kaohsiung, and 154 kms or 95 miles south of Taichung. We recommend that you use Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) or Kaohsiung International Airport (KHH) to go to Tainan.

By Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR)
It takes about 2.5 hours and costs about NT$1,250 to Tainan.You can buy tickets at High Speed Rail Station or book them on website. After arriving Tainan Railway Station, exit at the rear entrance and NCKU main campus is around the corner.
- Take Taoyuan Airport MRT from Airport Terminal 1 (A12) or Airport Terminal 2 (A13) to Taoyuan HSR Station (A18). (20 mins, NT$25)

- Proceeding to the interchange corridor on the 2nd floor of THSR Tainan station or the No.1 exit on the 1st floor lobby to take the shuttle train at Shalun station to Tainan station.
- Take Taiwan Railway (TRA) from Shalun Station to Tainan Station. (23 mins, NT$25)

To north [clockwise direction]: Shalun → Tainan
To south [counterclockwise direction]: Tainan → Shalun - After arriving Tainan station, exit at rear entrance and turn left to Daxue Rd. (University Road), then walk along the road to NCKU main campus. (5 mins)
- Another option is take taxi from the high-speed-rail station of Tainan to the hotel. The fare is about NT$350~450.
By Taiwan Railway (TRA)
It takes about 4~5.5 hours by train and costs about NT$550~700 to Tianan. After arriving Tainan Railway Station, exit at the rear entrance and NCKU main campus is around the corner.
- Take Taoyuan City Bus 5089 from Airport to Zhongli Station. (40 mins, NT$51)
Terminal 1 bus stop: B1 bus area of Arrivals Hall
Terminal 2 bus stop: Outdoor gallery at East side of 1F Arrivals Hall - Take Taiwan Railway (TRA) from Zhongli Station to Tainan Station. (3.5~5 hrs, NT$500~650)
- After arriving Tainan station, exit at rear entrance and turn left to Daxue Rd. (University Road), then walk along the road to NCKU main campus. (5 mins)
Landing at Kaohsiung International Airport (KHH)
By Taiwan Railway (TRA)
It takes about 1.5 hour to get to Tainan from Kaohsiung Airport and costs about NT$100~135.
- Take Kaohsiung Metro (KRTC) from Kaohsiung International Airport Station (Red Line, R4) to Kaohsiung Main Station (R11). (20 mins, NT$35)
