Price pay by EasyCard and cash are the same on bus and MRT, unless you are taking bus right after MRT, in that case, there will be 50% discount on the bus trip.
1. Where to buy
You can buy it at "Electronic stored value card service" counter or "Taoyuan airport MRT service" counter, both are near the exit of airport custom or self-service machine at any MRT station or you can buy EasyCard at convenience store at Airport.
The EasyCard usually come in card form. But you can find EasyCard in different shape in convenience store.
Each EasyCard come with TWD100 fixed deposit + TWD100 usable deposit, you should recharge (top-up) enough deposit to take the sub-sequence trip, e.g. Airport MRT from Taioyuan airport to Taipei Main station cost TWD75, Taipei MRT from Taipei Main station to Haushanpi cost TWD25.
All the deposit in standard EasyCard (in card form) are refundable. This can be done at each Taipei MRT station.
Note that EasyCard not in card format is not refundable (and cost more for the design).
2. How to recharge (top up)
At the counter mentioned above, convinience stores, self-service machine at MRT station or counter at MRT station.
3. Where to use
You can use EasyCard for bus (buses at Airport and City buses) trip, MRT (Airport MRT and Taipei MRT) trip, commuter train trip, convinience store, chain supermarket, chain restaurants (KFC, McDonald, MOS burger etc.), chain teashops, car park and etc.
Some Taxi (especially those from pre-booked Taxi service) accept EasyCard.
4. Place that do not accept EasyCard
High Speed Rail, local market places, local restaurants.
Most Taxi at the street do not accept EasyCard.
5. How to use it
On bus or MRT : touch the EasyCard with the sensor machine until you hear "beep" when you enter the bus or MRT station, touch the EasyCard with sensor machine again when you leave the bus or MRT station.
