Description

Overview:

Recent measurements of spin polarization and spin alignment of hadrons in relativistic heavy ion collisions have made polarization phenomena and related issues one of most intriguing topics in high energy nuclear physics. In particular, the unexpectedly large spin alignment of vector mesons with collision-energy and flavor dependence pose severe challenges to theoretical explanations but also new opportunities to probe strong-interaction physics beyond subatomic swirls in quark gluon plasmas. This workshop is devoted to gathering experts, both inside and outside the field, to exchange ideas and methods to resolve the current tension between theory and experiment and discuss future developments. Several novel topics including polarization phenomena of  heavy flavor, internal spin structure of hadrons, polarization transport in low-energy nuclear collisions and small systems along with conventional issues such as dynamical spin polarization and alignment of light flavor will be addressed.
